We are playing Dust in New Eden universe, with same races, why Dust must be different? First af all, problem in Dust how it was created. All dropsuit\vehicles seems to get their beggining in shield tanking. With Uprising game became where shield based dropsuits\vehicles are dominating\pubstomping in Dust, no one compatible or equal in EHP tanking even with shields, armor tanking on infantry is a joke.
Amarr in EVE - armor tanking, alot of armor, bonus to armor resists. Mid, long range ships. Caldari in EVE - shield tanking, alot of shield, bonus to shield resists. Close, long range ships. Gallente in EVE - armor tanking, more armor than shields, bonus to armor rep amount. Alot of DPS in close range. Minmatar in EVE - shield tanking, more shield than armor, bonus to shield boost amount, lightest & fastest ships, high alfa strike on long range, high rof in close range. THIS SHOULD BE MAXIMUM SIMILAR IN DUST!
Ideas to fix this: 1 - Drastically reduce base shield recharge on dropsuits (like 2,3,5 points (basic, advanced, prototype dropsuit) maybe 3,5,7 on Caldari, Minmatar suits). 2 - Make shield booster module high slot, make it passively recharge shields (similar to armor repair module), maybe remove shield recharge delay and depleted recharg delay. 3 - Make Shield recharge module low slot. 4 - Greatly improve armor repair\shield boost module (like 5,7,10 points (basic, advanced, prototype module)). 5 - Add shield repair equipment (similar to armor repair tool). 6*1 - Make new\rebalance AV weapons\grenades or do equal damage to shield\armor (to vehicles at least). 7*2 - Rebalance\rework role, race bonuses, atributes & slots on dropsuit. 8*3 - Changing CPU\PG resources on different dropsuit frames\roles & requirements of modules\equipment, so some dropsuits can't be abused or used in wrong way.
*1 - Simple solution: All grenades are timed, can do damage to infantry & vehicles. Splash (low) dmg to infantry, homing direct (high) dmg to vehicles, or one of each type for infantry & vehicles. Ammar EM (shock) - 80-90% shield, 10-20% armor dmg. Caldari Kinetic - 60-70% armor, 30-40% shield dmg. Gallente Thermal - 60-70% shield, 30-40% armor dmg. Minmatar Exsplosive - 80-90% shield, 10-20% shield dmg. (Any type of grenades alredy easy destroying any ground placed equipment, not necessary needed)
Forge Gun and Swarm Launcher (according to the description) do more dmg to armor (Forge Gun maybe equal), there is no AV weapons against shields. Description of Plasma Cannon in my opinion says it's not even AV weapon ("for use in urban operations and confined space combat").
*2 - Armor tanking & shield tanking not comparable to each other. Base atributes, fitting & slots not corespond to New Eden races. 2.1 - Logists must be Logists, not killing machines. They need bonuses on shield\armor rep tools (amount, distance), nanoinjectors (armor rep bonus on revive). Logists should have less EHP than assaults, but move\run faster. They NEED RUN to fallen team mate, not CRAWL. Now they look like more advanced version of assault suits. 2.2 - Assaults must be assaults. Can tank nice amount of dmg, but not more than heavy frames. They need bonuses on range, dmg (rof, dps, alfa strike, headshot multiplier). Two slots for grenades. 2.3 - Scouts have less EHP of all dropsuits. They are not meant to tank damage at any way. Scouts are usles in open desert maps (only 1 map suitable for scouting\hit & run tactics - Line harvest). Scouts are for scouting, providing intell on battlefild, hit & run tactics. Almost same speed & same scan radius as other frame size make them look & feel ridiculous, they should be at least 20% faster than medium frames. (Minmatar medium frame have almost same move\sprint speed as Gallente light frame - does it make even sense to use scout, when we can use medium frame with same speed\scan radius, more EHP, nearly same signature?) 2.4 - Heavies, work in progress...
